Trickery

In the early days "stick-up" decoys were used to hunt wild life including shore birds as there were few domestic birds. Native Americans taught the early settlers to make decoys from grasses and husks and also from roots and wood, Finer decoys were made later and today all types of decoys are collectables. We used to go to the Easton Waterfowl Festival and pick up a decoy or two. This is a Black Bellied Plover carved by Whitzel '94. I am partial to shore birds, coots and pelicans and hubby likes the fish and duck decoys.
