Winter Walk
I met Mrs C today for the first time since the end of November. It's the first time I've spent time with anyone apart from Mr K and the Little Misses for months and it was lovely!
Just before she arrived I met Miss E's cooking teacher as she passed our house with her new gorgeous puppy (they live just down the road from us) and thanked her profusely for teaching Miss E to make lasagne and pastry. Hardly a day goes by without Miss E whipping up a batch of jam tarts or mini quiches. Her lasagne is AMAZING and we've got Miss L's cakes too. Happy days!!
Mrs C followed me to the lay-by where I park for the walk towards Silverstone and we set off. It's my favourite place to walk with so many different options - woods, fields, parkland, Stowe Gardens, farmland. It was so muddy today we skipped the woods and walked round the outside of them and then up the Roman road to the top where it all opens up and you can see for miles. I loved it!! Everything looked so pretty with the remnants of the snow and it was SO good being out in the fresh air and feeling some proper space!
The dogs loved it too. There was an enormous frozen puddle in the field which they headed straight on to. Leia had never seen ice before and kept hilariously putting her face on it and scooting along - like they do when they've got dog food on their chops. Hard to explain but very funny! (See extras)
Also very funny was Mrs C holding on to Leia's lead and trying to get her to run so she could "ice ski" behind her. It didn't work!
We started walking back through the woods but it was only half frozen so the mud was ankle breakingly deadly so we went round the fields again.
The rest of the day was pretty lazy apart from going to get a Tesco click and collect order tonight.
