Boscombe pier

Yesterday's reading over Internet involved the active Hawaiian volcano, Mauna Loa spewing lava and threatening the town of Hilo.
 
Our heroine Nani was very worried but was assured by Keoki that Princess Luka would be on hand to calm Pele, the Goddess of the volcano and thus save Hilo.
 
Six foot Princess Luka did make an appearance, rowed by her entourage to the town PIER and made her way to the foot of the volcano. There she calmed the lava flow with magic chants and a square of red fabric ripped from the voluminous petticoats of Nani.
 
The town was saved and we were asked by the alert nearly six year old, not to explain the magic but "what is a pier?"
 
So I just had to tunnel out of Lockdown and take a photograph of a pier to explain that structure.
