Animal magic!
Today was full of animals - and I'm not just talking about the students!
There was a tiny fawn and its mother in our garden this morning as well as a heron eyeing up the pond. The holes dug by a badger overnight and several lots of fox poo reminded me that I really need to set up my trailcam again! This evening, the farmer behind us was loading up the sheep into a trailer - no idea where they're going but I don't think we'll see them again...
At school, Juno brought his brother and sister in to see us (see 'extras' for photo) and we learnt how to 'launch' cockatiels from our arms. It was amazing seeing them flying around the classroom (not something you often see in a secondary school!) and the students were brilliant with them - especially as the birds' preferred landing site was the top of their heads! Most exciting, though, was that Scarlet had her babies last Saturday - eleven of them! They were only in this pen so they could get an iron injection, so don't worry, they have a lot of lovely living space really! The other pregnant sow, Pearl, is due any day now so the Farm Club kids will definitely have their work cut out for them!
In the afternoon, we went to the sports hall for a 'Circus Skills' session. I suggested we name the winner 'Biggest Clown in the School'. Following my storming ahead in the stilt-walking, guess who won the title?
