An Old Photograph ...
... with a bit of history to it.
Randolph Turpin was a black British boxer who became World Middleweight Champion in 1951 by beating the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson. Turpin lived and trained at Gwrych Castle, Abergele, North Wales in the early 1950s. Whilst on holiday in nearby Rhyl, Mum, Dad & me visited the castle - and here I am proudly holding the coveted Lonsdale Belt that Turpin had also won.
And now, after a period of neglect, Gwrych Castle is back in favour. It was the venue for the 2020 'I'm a Celebrity ...." and has been booked again for 2021.
