Mt Ruapehu..

is an active stratovolcano in the central North Island and also the main ski area in the North Island. The last time it  erupted was in 2007. The crater  lake at the summit  is monitored continuously to detect any rise in temperature. It is normally around 40 degrees.C.   It is many years since I have been here and ever in the summer time.  In winter it is covered in snow. It was very interesting to see the rock formations which normally lay beneath the snow.  A great but long day.
