Lake Halen (Thawing, Beware!)
In February 1854 Sheriff Jöns Andreas Frick was hunting here when his dog ran out onto the surface of the frozen lake. A short time later, fellow hunters found Frick's rifle lying on the ice, and soon discovered his lifeless body in the freezing water under it. The rifle was passed down the generations and is now on display in a local museum, and the strait where the tragedy occurred was named Frickasundet, in memory of the unfortunate Sheriff.
