Interesting talk this pm about the planned bicentennial celebrations of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 2025.

The aim is to develop a 'Railway Heritage Village' in Darlington linked to its original North Road station. However, Locomotion No. 1 currently on display at North Road is in the ownership of the National Railway Museum [NRM] who would like to re-locate this iconic locomotive to its major display facility at Shildon, 9 miles away.

Many locals think the NRM are pulling the rug from underneath their feet. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out by 2025.
