The Rest of The Team

Completed the "High Peak Marathon" this morning with BlackrodLad (on the right and two others. The name of the race is a little misleading - it takes place in the High Peak district of Derbyshire but it isn't a marathon. Rather, it is a marathon and a bit. The bit takes it to 42 miles (67.2k) with 7500 feet (2038M) of climbing. The terrain is a mixture of paths/tracks/open moorland - there is no marked route, simply a number of checkpoints that have to be visited in the correct order.

The race is run by teams of 4 who set off at 1 minute intervals starting at 23:00 on Friday night. Conditions were about perfect, temperatures below -7C, frozen ground, hard snow and only a light wind. This is after about 8 hours racing, an hour after first light, with only another 4 hours before we would finish.

Large will allow you to see the overnight frost on BlackrodLad's shirt and rucksack.

"All Nighters" used to mean something different when I were a lad!

Some more from this morning, here on my blog.
