Painterly Abstract

Another surprisingly difficult day to get a photo posted. Since the theme for abstract Thursday was "painterly," I took a shot of this actual abstract painting hanging above the mantel. Fortunately for me my wife is artistic and we have all sorts of nice things about the house. This piece was something she painted on a random piece of wood some years ago and it just seems to complement the stone of the fireplace. It gives me a cloudy, sunset sort of feeling, but it really just follows the grain of the wood and she insists she had nothing special in mind, and was just having fun with the paint. Honestly I could take all sorts of photos of the art around the house but it feels a bit like cheating. 

Everyone at work agrees the week is just dragging along, and there were a few crises today that were emotionally draining. Several reports of cake and donuts being consumed immediately after school. There is no doubt  all the changes brought about by Covid are wearing people down - not just teachers but families and kids as well. You can't be surprised to see increased academic and behavior challenges during a time like this. It feels like a real endurance test at the moment. Fortunately I've got some coworkers with a sense of humor, 'cause that is usually my outlet when things get stressful.
