My Nest

A pair of magpies is building a nest at the top of a nearby tree. This bird has just returned from a twig-foraging expedition.

Some black crows have started to show an interest - an 'unhealthy interest' from the point of view of the magpies and their future young!

Yesterday there was a 20 minutes stand-off in the bare branches of the tree between the magpie pair and two crows, which ended when the crows flew away. I'm sure that won't be the end of the story.

As an aside, it was great to see blue sky for the first time in over a week.
