On the first Saturday of each month the Manchester Markets awnings line a stretch of Palatine Road in Northenden. Stalls selling fresh food produce including bakery, butcher, fishmonger, fruit and veg items can be found and the smell from the fast food stall is literally mouth-watering. Manchester's monthly street markets can be found in numerous locations and specialise in locally sourced food, arts & crafts and clothing. Northenden's retail strip has survived the transition of traditional shops fading away and being replaced by bars, restaurants, takeaways and convenience stores.
