Windmill 'De Grenswachter', Luyksgestel

'Grenswachter' = literally 'border watcher' or 'border guard' or what we now call 'border control' or 'border security'.  Sounds like 'grensWACKHter'.  The name of the windmill is no surprise -- the Belgian border is only 3 km. away.

'Luyksgestel' is... difficult.  'Luyk' or 'luijk' sounds MIDWAY between 'like' and 'luck', or between 'like' and 'lauwk'.  Try to pronounce 'like' but your mouth shaped as though you want to pronounce 'lauwk'.  Spent many hours 32 years ago practicing this.  Leave it if it's too much.

A sunny day!  Back home, AW sawed off yet another branch, actually a thick one that grew right from the main trunk.  There's enough now to fill two extra green bins.  Our neighbour has offered the use of his bin (like ours, it is usually hardly full anyway), but we do not want to abuse that hospitality.  There is no reason to rush.

As for me, I am managing to get a lot done, research-wise.  There's an old branch that started 300 years ago, so I'm back at the drawing board, trying to find out which part of the main trunk it came from.  So so thankful for online archives that are accessible for free.

Yup, we have both been busy with... trees!

Also thankful for a kind and devoted husband.  Mimi has not been as fortunate.  We didn't get to chat much today because she's now looking for an apartment... again.
