Beguinage

The Princely Beguinage at Bruges with it's typical white houses was founded in the year 1425. It's a world heritage monument . And it was once the home of Beguines . Emancipated lay-women who nevertheless led a pious and celibate life. Today as seen here on my photo the Beguinage is inhabited by Nuns . And ... also inhabited by several women who have decided to remain unmarried .
