Spring Bottom Scrub!
Havelet Bay, in the shadow of Castle Cornet which you will have seen on a few previous blips. This bay is to the south of St Peter Port.
This boat had been dried out for a bottom scrub and antifoul ready for the season... Because Guernsey has large, 10 metre tides you get the opportunity to do this on a beach like this. I blipped this at around 4PM and by 7 PM the whole bay will be flooded and she can go back to her berth.
I spoke to the 2 very pleasant guys who were working on the boat and apparently it belongs to their boss and they were doing it as a favour for him. Apparently he rarely uses it so they can use it themselves whenever they wish but...it has a large turbo diesel giving 25Knts but at 8 galls/hour so, an afternoon boating can cost £200....eek!,,,,very expensive fish!
For a view from a slightly different, panned out viewpoint showing the lie of the land and hence some perspective please KLIK here.
Sunny spells forecast for today but if they happened I must have blinked!
Maybe tomorrow!
