Another beautiful day.  We socialised with Cali on the deck when she delivered our weekly groceries.  Always good to hear her news; working from home during the week, we can't see her so often so Saturdays are special.

After lunch we took a road trip, still within our restrictions though, to the little town of Biggar, to the south of us.  I am fond of Biggar, which seems to be stuck in a 'fifties time warp, with great little family shops on the high street; it doesn't seem to have changed much since I came here as a child.

I was made more aware of this when to my delight a horse and buggy outfit came riding along the high street, the horses were trotting proudly along, and when the driver saw me ready to take a photo, he slowed them down for me, so nice of him.

Part of Biggar's story is that several thousand Polish soldiers were billeted here in 1940, just after the fall of France, and in the churchyards around there are quite a few gravestones for some of them.  They were re-routed to Belgium and Holland to fight for the Allies.
