Why didn't I think of it before? I live nine minutes' walk from Oxford Botanic Garden. It's practically an extension to my garden except that someone else does all the work. I got there and found you had to pre-pay and pre-book a time slot but with just five minutes' phonery outside I was the happy owner of an annual pass and instant admission. 

This is one of the glass houses, currently closed to the public because of Covid. In extras, a rose against a sunny stone wall and some miniature irises in an astonishing delicate pale grey-blue. Have I ever seen flowers this colour before?
