Last Goodbye
Almost.
I spent most of the day filling a skip at what I had once thought would be my forever home. Well over a year since it was my home and now that it is sold, there is a lot of rubbish to clear from the site. Things accumulate over the years, things decay, things are not needed any more. It felt strange using a borrowed angle grinder to cut up the climbing frame and swing, both rusted together beyond recovery but overall the intervening months have dulled the pain. A new home awaits Jamie and I when we leave on Tuesday, after Una's funeral tomorrow.
The garden mostly looking sadly neglected as nature reclaims it, two shrubs stood out. Daphne mezereum pictured above has never looked better and the Witch Hazel (extra pic) was in full, glorious, flower. Both are scented which was a delight on a warm sunny day. I have seedings of the Daphne but these will take years to reach the size of the plant in flower today while the Witch Hazel has taken over ten years to reach this size ..... I'll just have to make sure to have another couple of decades of life in me!
Big Thank you for all the recent hearts, stars and supportive comments!
