1 a skew

Will remember today as a fine day in many ways. I accompanied my brother, Ade, on a trip for him down memory lane. He used to work for British Waterways and also has an abiding passion for canals and railways. An avid modeller and heritage railway enthusiast, he is very enthusiastic and knowledgable. Today we walked the 21 lock flight of the canal from Broad Street in Wolverhampton down to lock 21 at Aldersley. He is a human encyclopedia and I have learnt a lot about the infrastructure and workings of the waterways (now The Canal and Rivers Trust)
The blip shows the 12 arch viaduct which carries the (GWR) mainline from Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury. Built in the late 1890s it has one 'skew' arch to allow for the canal passing below, and the brickwork and engineering is hugely impressive. I love this stuff.
And my wife had kindly done us a packed lunch and flask of tea. And the sun shone all day long.
A very nice day indeed!
