Daphne

What a lovely spring day! We went for a walk around Brigsteer Park, and managed to track down one of the elusive Daphne mezerium. In my photo, the left hand one is in my garden and the woeful little specimen on the right is in the woods!
They seem to be found in rather deep old coppice woodland, which is shaded and vulnerable to deer browsing. Poor things are quite rare and I don’t think this one will be flowering this year!
