Gently down the stream

Light and sight

This is for Isbi's MonoMonday challenge on the subject of seeing light.  Many thanks for hosting, Isbi.  I took it up on Bushfield Camp (an old army camp, long deserted).  I'd love to say I walked up there, but today most of the heft was taken by the bus.  And yes, I did blip from up here a couple of years ago, but couldn't resist giving it another whirl, the light and shadows at this time of year are so wonderful.

Apart from that much of the day has been spent in the garden, sitting in the sunshine, kind of a bit shocked by what I managed to do to my eye at the weekend.  The strangeness really came on yesterday when Mikey said, very kindly, 'There are good things about this, you've kept your sight.'  In turn, that set me thinking about cameras and how much they do for us blippers these days.

When I was photographing London Fashion Week all those years ago the method was set the focus, then wait for the model to walk into it before you press the shutter button.  You needed perfect vision and quick reactions.  And you needed to get it right every time!

I can't imagine using that technique now.  All you have to have is a vague general idea of the outline you want round the shot, the camera does the rest.  There are now blind photographers.  I watched one working when I took OG to one of his Blind Veterans' lunches.  The guy was obviously professional but also registered blind.  He had a lovely guide dog, a golden lab, who spent that lunchtime under one of the tables chewing on a huge raw carrot, while the guy went round photographing people on every table.

Yes, I know, I'm maundering on.  I'll shut up now.  Except to say a huge thank you to you all for being so kind and for encouraging me to get the eye seen too.  Clearly a good move.

Have a great Monday evening Tuesday morning ;))
xx
