Back of beyond

Next year a team from Reading University Archaeology Department plan to come up here looking for some old crannog sites - man-made islands for you and me - in a project called 'Islands of Stone'. 
They have asked the local archaeology group to look at some targets and so off D & I duly trotted into the wilds of Loch Portain.
The image here is a pretty standard Iron Age (around 0 AD) dun (fort) site with a causeway. I suspect we were the first to visit it for a year.
Not one we will push towards Reading but a pretty enough corner of Uist.
