The Lion and The Unicorn

Tier 5 - Day 56

Eight weeks in this current Lockdown. I walked a different route today and came across Auriol Park in Epsom, containing King George's Field. This is the third such Field I've seen in the local area so I checked Wikipedia to find out more.
In 1936, after George V's death, the Lord Mayor of London formed a committee  to determine a memorial that was not solely based on the idea of a statue. So the King George's Fields Foundation was set up and provided and protected valuable open spaces and facilities, still of great value, for children and young people in particular. They are, in most cases, established on charitable trust and protected 'in perpetuity'.
Heraldic Panels were, and still must be, displayed at the main entrance to the Field; the Lion panel to be fixed on the left of the entrance and the Unicorn panel on the right. However in Scotland it is compulsory for them to be the other way round.
There are 471 Fields in the UK.
