Breathe In And Out...

Practical wetland

Backblip from Friday. Walking home at the end of a gloriously sunny early spring day, I jumped over a low wall to photograph this last area of open water in this sustainable drainage scheme pond near my office. Created to store floodwater and trap pollutants in run-off from a new road scheme on the low ground west of Stirling Castle, it has been well colonised by bulrush Typha latifolia. I've seen lots of birds on and around it and, indeed, there was a waterbird hiding among the rushes but I was unable to see what it was.
