A good trim

My hawthorn tree had grown very large and spreading. It was throwing too much shade on my small garden so this morning a tree surgeon arrived to reduce it's canopy.  He gave it a substantial haircut (which is more than humans can get at the moment).  

I told him how much I wanted cutting off but he cut off a lot more than I was expecting. When I queried him about it he assured me that it will be just what I want when the new branches have grown up in spring.  I'm hoping that he's right.  Cutting a lot off can happen at the  hairdresser's too!

This afternoon it was still chilly but the sun came out so I had my walk and then did a bit of gardening.
