Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter Receptacle Fail

The outdoor electric outlet near our goldfish pond failed in an odd intermittent manner before failing completely.
I replaced it today with a new properly weather resistant ground fault circuit interrupter device.
I wondered what might cause this gizmo mysteriously to fail... never expecting to find that tiny ants had invaded the unit causing its demise.
I thought "bugs" only bothered computers... live and learn!
