First cauliflower

I am pleased with my cauliflowers..this is the first one to be ready, which I picked today. The chickens next door will get the big leaves.
I spent most of the day indoors today, first making a lemon tart for my neighbour, whose birthday it is today. I made the pastry using olive oil, following a recipe a friend had recommended, and was very pleased with both the ease of the process and the result.
The second big job I did was sweeping the chimney. My next door neighbour had spotted sparks coming out of the top of my chimney the other night and on reflection I realised I'd almost had a chimney fire. It was rather a messy job and took ages, if you include the preparation and clearing up, but well worth it for the peace of mind. I collected up more than a bucketful of soot and lumps of congealed soot.
