Wide angle Wednesday: patterns and repetition
It was a cold frosty start, but under blue skies and sunshine, we warmed up to a very pleasant 61F! About midday we decided to drive downtown and take a walk by the Ohio River, which is now at Flood stage. It should peak at 1am tomorrow morning. We’ve seen it significantly higher, recently in 2018, but it’s always an impressive sight. This particular shot doesn’t show the flooding clearly, though if you follow the path along you will note it disappears into the water, but I wanted to use this one with the railing to fit the challenge. I’ve put a couple of others in extras, as well as one of the first crocus we have seen - Spring is coming!
In the background you can see the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, crossing the Ohio to Covington, Kentucky. When opened on December 1, 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet main span, which was later overtaken by John A. Roebling's most famous design of the 1883 Brooklyn Bridge in New York at 1,595.5 feet.
We enjoyed a very late lunch at the Moerlein House, sitting outside on their balcony, overlooking the river.
