Starfish Rescue

Lockdown 3 - Day 59

I had a dentist appointment at 9am in Hove, and low tide was at 8.40am so I decided to get up early and head to the beach before my appointment.

As I was walking down to the sea I spotted a starfish washed up on the pebbles so I decided to take it and put it back in the sea, then I noticed a second one, so I took that one too - they were both still alive.   I put them in the sea, and although the sea was very calm, with the first swell the smallest star fish was washed back up on the sand, so I picked it up again and put it further out, but the same thing happened again.   The bigger one managed to go further out with each swell and I ended up picking up the smaller one and threw it further in.  A little while later I noticed the Seagulls cruising, so I felt bad and hoped my little starfish didn't end up as breakfast!   At least I gave them a chance, and really hope they made it.

Then I had another surprise, there was a Merman in the sea - see my extra!

My experience at the dentist was very good,  it's been 18 months since my last appointment due to Covid, and I was a little concerned about it as obviously I couldn't wear my mask, but every precaution was taken.  They keep the door to the surgery locked so each patient has to be let in, and there's only one patient in the building at any time.  The surgery is fully aired between patients and of course PPE is worn.  Fortunately I don't need any treatment, but he gave me a scale and polish while I was there.

As I was in Hove, I arranged to meet Barbara for a walk along the seafront and then I called at Pets at Home, followed by Asda to do the weekly shop and collect a prescription.  I was home for lunch with Alan, and then later this afternoon I had to take the boys to the Vet for their 6 monthly health check, followed by another walk with Alison.

We had a second removal company round today to give us a quote. This is a National company which we think may be better than the local company that quoted on Saturday, whose quote was for 6 vans and 6 drivers as they don't have any brig trucks!  We've got a third coming next week, so it'll be interesting to see how the quotes compare.
