Journey forward

From the family archives

Joseph Albert Butler (1866-1916), my wife's maternal great-grandfather was a farrier with the Royal Artillery during the Siege of Ladysmith (Nov 1899- Feb 1900).
Following his discharge from the RA, he started his own Farrier business in the town.
Together with an unknown man (2nd left), he is pictured here with his son Frank Colin (1895-1945) shoeing a horse.
