Sheringa Cottage Garden

We weren't planning on going out today, in part as we were getting many things ready for our first big blipmeet in Australia - tomorrow. But there was the open garden in the hills at Sheringa, and we had been there before (last October), and we both agreed it was one of the best and most interesting garden we have visited. That is a very big wrap. However it was a nice warm day, around 32C, so why not!

As always the Sheringa garden at Carey Gully (near Stirling in the hills) did not disappoint. It is a unique garden in that is backs onto bushland and is surrounded by beautiful gum trees.

It's cottage garden, and every square inch of land is planted into garden beds, with little windy paths that lead you from one delight to another. At this time of year there were dahlias and Michaelmas daisies, and asters, and a few roses and fruit trees, and lots of other things that we could not identify.

It was a riot of colour which was amazing seeing that we have had very little rain this summer.
See better in LARGE.

I thought this view of the owner's charming cottage and tiny deck was pretty much indicative of the whole place. It perfectly summed up Sheringa. I would have stayed longer but Paladian wanted to get back and blip her very rare bee that she photographed today. It was a very happy drive back home.

And we will certainly go back there next year, not the least because there are plenty of bees and "buglets" to keep Paladian happy. I very nearly blipped a piece of rusty steel garden architecture which was a T-shaped Wisteria frame to help this plant grow with a better shape.
I really loved this rusty-red frame and will add it to my blipfolio. It is now there!
