An Outing
We decided on the spur of the moment to drive down to Marina to grab some lunch from a little family owned Vietnamese place that we enjoy. Take out only, so we found a nearby park. I'm always struck by how different the landscape is, such a short distance away. Marina, by the way, doesn't seem to have a marina, but it does have a lot of sand. Maybe not as much as Sand City, which is nearby. Sand, and these iconic pines, gnarly wind-twisted things that line the horizon. Here we are facing the ocean, not close enough to hear or smell the sea, but close enough to see, over the farthest horizon line, the occasional colorful parachute from a parasailer. I got the rice noodle salad with grilled pork and shrimp, in case you're wondering.
