1st Anniversary

Backblip

Please forgive the bending of the rules today but this is lockdown significant. Today is the 1st year anniversary of my last visit to the hairdresser!

On the left was the last mug shot before lockdown, on 11th Jan, which was two weeks after the previous haircut. The last time I visited was 4th March 2020. I generally went every 4-5 weeks. I lasted 11 weeks before I plucked up the courage to attempt to cut it myself.

The first cut was obviously scary and there was quite a bit to cut off! Since then I have kept it trimmed every couple of weeks. I've only had two accidents in the last 12 months, twice taking a chunk out when the guard wasn't on properly, a good job it grows fairly quickly!

Looking at these two shots I don't think I've done too badly ... on the front at least! I wonder if it is more noticeably a self cut when viewed from the back?

I never really enjoyed going to the hairdresser so I wasn't eager to return when they were open for a short time but with all the social contact restrictions in place, mask wearing etc. The question is, when life returns to "normal" what will I do? I reckon, taking the purchase of clippers into account, I have currently saved approx £130.

I'm wondering about a hybrid approach. Visit hairdresser less often to ensure the back is better and the shape remains, but self trim in between when it starts annoying me.
