Clean Water and Sprig

Starting sprigs in bottles works well for the sprigs (a careless curtain callously clipped the plant) but green stuff does grow in the water.

The bottle was washed in the dishwasher then filled with boiling water.
I will only top it up with cooled boiled water.

I am not sure if this will be enough to keep the green stuff away...
