Gawton's Stone and the Hermit?

We went in a different direction for our walk today and headed out to Greenway Bank Country Park and Knypersley Reservoir. We visited Gawton's Well and Stone for the first time, even though we'd been here many times before.

Gawton was meant to be a hermit who was cured of the plague by the water from the well. There are many stories around how the rocks had got here, from them being Neolithic, a folly, or completely natural.

I managed to get the current hermit to pose for a photo today!
