So my blip today is lichen on our small apple tree. Lichen are fascinating and strange. They are not “ one thing” but a symbiotic relationship between a fungus or fungii, and an algae or cyanobacteria, They all benefit by playing as a team. It obviously works, as it has been suggested that up to 8% of the Earth’s surface is covered in lichen of one form or another (who measures these things ? ),

I cannot identify the lichens on the apple tree, but I like their peculiar textures and colours,
