SENTINELS

My walking challenge (1000 miles in 2021) takes me to many new and fascinating places. I enjoy learning about the history of places. But my steps also bring me back to favoured locations like these steps at our village church. St Michaels Church, Tettenhall. A site of worship since Anglo Saxon times, the church is set into a hollow below the sandstone ridge known locally as The Rock. There are rising ramps and paths at the eastern side and steep steps going out of the church grounds on the western side, terminating at these bollards at the highest point. I have posted before, looking up to the steps and this view is a retrospective, showing the bollards and old iron railings. It's a lovely spot, so evocative and harks back across time. I often go into a dream state when I am here. People avoid me. I usually talk in my sleep apparently.
