Kookaburra
This smart looking kooka is sitting on a firehose stand surveying the ground below for movement of something to eat in the leaf litter. This type is the main species in Australia but up in the far north, there are blue winged kookaburras, even more dramatic in markings. Their family calls , which sound a lot like human laughter, are the first heard in early morning around here and last heard at night.
