Sociable but distanced

It was so lovely to meet up with a friend for a walk and a good catch up. We went to Middleton Lakes and were treated to such a variety of lovely birds.

There was quite a bit of excitement because a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker had been seen several times. We were told where to look and what to listen for. As we stood in the car park just before leaving, we heard the more subtle drumming and looked up into the oak trees. My friend saw the bird, but I just had a glimpse of movement.

The world seemed fabulous, friendly - and normal.

My extra today is the view looking up into the heronry, but I chose it for the fabulous blue sky, reed bed, and atmosphere.
