Yew Blossom

Using all our 5-mile distance allowance we paid our first visit to Abercorn, which backs onto the western edge of Hopetoun House garden.

The walk took us from the church, a zig-zag path down to the edge of the Forth and across the Midhope Burn. This is part of the National Cycle Network route 76, which follows this part of the John Muir Way.

We returned by the same route but cut below the church, through a mass of yew trees, which are in flower, something I have not witnessed before, so that is the main blip, and added to the Tiny Tuesday challenge, thanks to cathy1947, the host.

The church, which dates back to the late12/earlyC13, was not open, of course, but we looked round the exterior and graveyard, in which there are very old gravestones, dating back to the C17. I particularly liked the pareidolia on one, also on a tree stump on the shore, see extra.

Then it was time to return home to catch the latest Covid bulletin, hearing the news that from Friday we shall be allowed to meet two adults from the same household outdoors - hooray, we can visit the junior Flums and meet the newest additions to their family - three chickens.
