Female Chaffinch

I'm on with a new project so we were at the garden centre early this morning to buy large pots for the front of the house.  Now I need to do my homework to find plants/shrubs which will be happy on the north facing side of the house and hopefully be attractive to insects.  Blipstar gardeners, please give your suggestions.

Inspired by gardening stuff, I've spent a couple of hours sorting my small pots of bulbs which sit at the sunny rear of the house, and doing some garden tidying.  A robin sat in the buddleia and kept me company, waiting for me to go away so s/he could explore the diggings.
