Spring is sprung , yet again

This is a shot of a bud opening up on our red osier dogwood shrub taken with a 50mm macro with 10mm extension tube and diffused flashgun. I spent about an hour this afternoon wondering why I could not get my fuji camera to recognise my good flash gun. When I tried the tiny fuji fC-X8 external flashgun and that was not recognised I realised the problem must be with my xt3 body. Eventually through searching on the net I found the solution. I had my shutter controlled electronically whereas for flash it must be on the mechanical shutter.photography. I use flash so rarely that I had forgotten this basic error.
