My Cup Runneth Over
A blessed lie-in this weekend, so lovely! I ran a couple of errands in the morning, and then H and her girls and I were going to take her dog and B to the woods for a walk. We're in training (ish!) for the Shine Walk which is back on for September, and the girls really wanted to see Bobo.
Just as I was about to leave, Shelle and Lucy popped to mum's to bring the banner for tomorrow. Lucy was on her scooter, and said to my dad "uh, can you go somewhere else?!". Another blinder! We're going to have to try and change the dialogue here I think. I had B on his string and a letter to post on the way to meet H, so I said goodbye, but they decided to scoot around the block with Lou so we walked together. B stopped to smell lots, and Lou took great delight in overtaking me. Then I pretended to run and she caught me up. I looked back and she'd abandoned the scooter, and wanted to run and hold my hand :-) Shelle and Nick walked a way behind. Lou wanted to hold Bobo's string - I don't think he was best pleased to be pulled to a stop and then to find her at the helm!
It was so lovely because I've mostly seen her on a screen, let alone hold a gloved hand! We got to the end of the street, and then stopped at the postbox "do you want to post Grandad's letter?" Shelle lifted her up to reach, and then it was back on the string with Bobo, with me hoping we weren't going to be late!
We rounded the corner and saw H and her girls waiting for us. We crossed over and Lucy immediately began waving, despite having never seen them before :-) I introduced them and apologised for being slow, and then Lucy stated showing then her 'Snuggs'- Ugg boots that Ro bought her last winter than she chose to wear today. She demonstrated for them "these are my snugs! They make a clip-clop noise like this!" and she stamped her foot on the asphalt to show them! Shelle soon scooped her up and she was on her merry way, off scooting around the block. Our little group walked the over way towards the woods.
It was so lovely for them to be able to see her, as I talk about her all the time. Lucy seemed so delighted to have different company, it was lovely to see her so friendly. Bobo was a little bit barky towards Betsy, as she's much bigger than him - a black lab- but I hoped it was just excitement.
Once we got to the woods and took them off their leads, they weren't the least bit bothered with each other at all. Betsy loves sticks and quickly commandeered a huge one- almost a metre wide! Bobo sniffed and piddled and did his own thing, coming back to her and veering away just in time to avoid a stick to the eye ;-) They had a good time, and we did two laps while B was collected after a very active one.
A lovely afternoon before school this week. I had a catch-up with K over FaceTime, and then home to prepare for tomorrow- the day is almost here....!
