Grand banking hall
After a quick visit to the office today I had to do some banking business in the magnificent Royal Bank building in St Andrew Square. It was very quiet, so I checked that it was OK to take a photo and was told it was fine as long as there are no customers around.
Dundas House was built in 1774 as a private house and was acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1825. The banking hall was added in 1857, covered by the large circular blue dome, pierced by 5 tiers of star-shaped skylights radiating from the centre, representing the firmament.
