Soggy Underfoot
I can see our house from here. We took Arlo on a late afternoon walk and I didn't realise until we were half around that it was his first walk, mainly off-lead, with just us. Usually he's on this long training lead so he didn't dart off, but he walked and ran with us, short sniffs before moving on, came back when he spotted a rabbit running off and thought about chasing it, and didn't bark when he met 2 hairy dogs on a walk twice. It doesn't sound much, but it was reassuring for us to see him do all that. I think he enjoyed it but it was very windy, very rainy and a bit chilly and he was glad to get back in the car.
We were glad to get back in the house for a special The Tweedy Show from Monday night which, in addition to Jeff's family, 2 members of Wilco joined him to play some songs. While it was just great to hear some songs from them, it was also a sign things were starting to change for the better. While we're on tenterhooks awaiting the first vaccine shot any god damn week now, our lives have been on one continuous loop for however many months, and this, for me, was a big change of scene.
No big things, but it felt good on both accounts.
