Inspector Hunty
It's been another busy day at Dogcorner Cottage. We had a visit from Hunter and my sister-in-law outside in the warm weather. I couldn't spend too much time with them because we had plumbers working inside too and T was busy with back to back work meetings. Hunty is interested in everything and very busy. I heard him say "Betsey" with a big smile today :) That melted my heart.
The plumbing work has nothing to do with our cellar woes. One of the heating companies we have had estimates from also has a plumbing branch. We have had some jobs we needed done, one involving replacing outside sillcocks and we needed the snow to melt for that job. As soon as the snow melted, the cellar woes began. These two plumbers were not cheap, but they overcame some obstacles. Those things that always come up in an old house or when the new plumbers discover something another plumber has bungled before and covered up until it ends up failing. These guys were great explainers and skillful even if the bill might make one faint on the spot.
No workmen tomorrow, the next on will be Monday when the HVAC man comes for and estimate on adding combustion air for the boiler. When that is job completed, the Gas Inspector should give the okay for the gas service to be switched on again and the boiler can, fingers crossed, be fired up. By that time we'll probably not need it, but this crisis will have passed, finally.
For the Record,
This day came in warm and windy but with overcast skies.
All hands wary.
