Stop the clocks...
We had the sad task of saying goodbye to Gail's Nana's house today. It was the first time I'd been back there since we lost her, aged 97, last November, and I was anxious it would be very upsetting. However, as soon as we crossed the threshold, it was apparent Nana was no longer there; there was no sense of energy or presence. All the physical paraphenalia she had left behind appeared faded and, well, lifeless.
The chiming of her clock was an integral part of her home life, providing reassurance and direction through her sightless day. We have brought it back to our home and started it again, its comforting tones signalling the passage of time; a gentle reminder of the preciousness of each moment. Thank you, Nana. xx
