In the woods

Ok, so I am breaking my own rule again today. I didn't actually take this photo today, but I did edit it today, so I feel thats still allowed. 

Wanted to try some colour masking, since I'd seen it done in a few shots and liked the effect. The first didn't turn out too well (it was of the log in the forest from a few days ago), I think as the image was to complex and not enough contrast between the subject and background.

I think this one with the blue tit seems to work better, I like the geometric patterns of the branches and then the little pop of colour. Creating it felt a bit like doing a crayon rubbing as child - using the brush tool to bring the colour through.
