A long one
"Early" start when Graham, Kat and I left home shortly after nine o'clock. Our mission? A trip to Ikea on the outskirts of Izmir, some 90 min drive, armed with determination and shopping lists. Upon arrival we refreshed with a coffee outside in the warm sunshine, and then we hit the store.....
Hours later (literally) we filled Graham's car with our newly acquired stuff and head off to Kusadasi, hoping to find a nice seaside restaurant. Sadly, the warm weather meant that many folk had the same idea and there was literally nowhere to park and restaurants were very crowded, so we drove on towards Soke.
No beautiful views of the Aegean, but offering useful facilities, we parked at Novada shopping precinct, near the Soke cement works, desperate now for some personal maintenance. Limited choice and in the end we chose a typical Turkish cuisine restaurant where my meal was Turkish cheese and tomato Pide that measured just over one meter in length. Graham's assistance was invaluable in demolishing this very long meal.
Satiated, we hit the supermarket for a few basic supplies before finally heading home, arriving some eleven hours yet only about 7,000 steps after our morning departure!
Now collapsed on the sofa with Harry, a beer, and "Murder She Wrote" on TV.
Note to self: Still (day 4?) having some health issues with discomfort and awkward pains that come and go with noticeable impact on my energy level leaving me feeling like I'm running on empty.
