The blackthorn blows*!

*Blow: a synonym for blossom or bloom. 
The first of the blackthorn blossom to appear in the area! 
Christina Rossetti's Endure Hardness comes to mind, especially with the cold winds we're getting here at the moment. 

"A cold wind stirs the blackthorn 
To burgeon and to blow, 
Besprinkling half green hedges 
With flakes and sprays of snow. 
Through coldness and through keenness,
